It is fun to share a few celebrations with you:
- Thank you to the Husky community for the amazing support and participation in our recent Book Fair. Sales exceeded our $4000.00 goal and as a result the school library will benefit from $2600.00 in scholastic rewards to help purchase books and supplies.
- The grade 7 Huskies and extracurricular music Huskies were treated to a Drumming lesson in music class today
- We will be having our second dance of the year next week on Thursday, October 27th from 6:00 to 8:00 and the theme is Halloween. It is a costume dance and masks are not permitted. Huskies must be picked up promptly at 8:00 pm.
- Two of our soccer teams have made it to the playoffs next week. The girls’ team will play in the final next Tuesday and the boys are in the semi-finals on Monday. Go Huskies!
- The Cross Country Team competed very well at the district meet this week!
- The grade 6 WIN Block is well underway and is having an impact. Please ask your Husky what they are working on during WIN block.
- We now have Breakfast/Lunch volunteers who are preparing food items for those in need throughout the day. Thank you for the parent support.
- We are excited to share that Cheerleading will start soon. Stay tuned for more information on tryouts.
A few reminders for parents:
We do not permit smoking on school property. We have received concerns that parents are smoking in their vehicles during pick up.
Huskies have been reminded that we are a scent free environment. I have staff who react severely and must leave the building if scents are used.
Vaccine clinics will take place on the following dates:
Grade 7 Huskies Nov. 2 Vaccination against Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) and HPV (human papillomavirus)
Thank you for completing the consent forms for your Husky.
Grade 8 Huskies Nov. 3 2nd dose of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine ONLY (no consent form required)
Grade 8’s who are new to Maplehurst need to contact Public Health at 869-6492 for their first dose.
Our first PSSC meeting will take place next Tuesday at 6:30.
We continue to grow at a steady rate. We welcomed 5 new Huskies this week and have 5 more scheduled to join us next week. We value excellence and diversity in learning, wellness, and community. The Huskies are reminded often of the importance of celebrating diversity and respecting everyone in our community. We welcome new Huskies every Wednesday and have classroom representatives who welcome and host the new students each week. They are doing an amazing job as ambassadors for our school community.
Thank you for your continued support,
Miss Nowlan
Principal
